My Home. Artist in Residence at Milton Church of England Primary School, UK.
As part of The Big Draw week, I ran workshops throughout the School and asked the children to draw and colour a picture of their Home. They used paint, colouring pens and/or coloured pencils on A3 paper. Through discussion we talked about what each room meant to them and they then choose a colour that they felt matched that emotion of the room.
Many children drew their Grandparents home too as well as other homes that were important to them.
Here are a few comments from the children...
'Yellow for the kitchen because that's where I have my cereal and it is always so sunny.'
'Orange for the Living Room as that's were I have the most cuddles and I love cuddles.'
'I think the bedroom in Blue because when I am naughty I get sent there.'
At the end of the Residency I reduced all the A3 pictures to postage stamp size and built two 'Homes' with the children pictures. This was then presented back to the school.
